Kinetic Molecular Model

The Kinetic Molecular Model seeks to describe the behavior and characteristics of gases as follows:

  1. Gas molecules are spaced far apart such that the distance between the molecules is greater in size than the actual molecules.
  2. Gas molecules are in constant motion and move in random directions, making collisions frequently possible. Those collisions are elastic in nature.
  3. There are no attractive or repulsion forces between gas particles, thus allowing the spacing.
  4. The average kinetic energy of a gas in proportion to the temperature (in Kelvin). Therefore, gases at the same temperature have the same kinetic energy.
