The Kinetic Molecular Model seeks to describe the behavior and characteristics of gases as follows:
- Gas molecules are spaced far apart such that the distance between the molecules is greater in size than the actual molecules.
- Gas molecules are in constant motion and move in random directions, making collisions frequently possible. Those collisions are elastic in nature.
- There are no attractive or repulsion forces between gas particles, thus allowing the spacing.
- The average kinetic energy of a gas in proportion to the temperature (in Kelvin). Therefore, gases at the same temperature have the same kinetic energy.
