Gas Laws

Gas laws are named after a scientist and will relay the relationship between two or more properties as either directly proportional or indirectly/inversely proportional and then state the relationship in a mathematical equation.

  • Directly Proportional Relationship: both variables are influenced in the same manner, meaning they both increases or decrease together.
  • Indirectly or Inversely Proportional Relationship: variables are influence in opposing ways, meaning that as one increases, the other decreases.

Some Basic Gas Laws:

  1. Boyle’s Law
  2. Charles’ Law
  3. Gay-Lussac’s Law
  4. Avogadro’s Law
  5. Combined Gas Law
  6. Ideal or Universal Gas Law
  7. Dalton’s Law of Partial Pressures
  8. Graham’s Law of Effusion
