Gas laws are named after a scientist and will relay the relationship between two or more properties as either directly proportional or indirectly/inversely proportional and then state the relationship in a mathematical equation.
- Directly Proportional Relationship: both variables are influenced in the same manner, meaning they both increases or decrease together.
- Indirectly or Inversely Proportional Relationship: variables are influence in opposing ways, meaning that as one increases, the other decreases.
Some Basic Gas Laws:
- Boyle’s Law
- Charles’ Law
- Gay-Lussac’s Law
- Avogadro’s Law
- Combined Gas Law
- Ideal or Universal Gas Law
- Dalton’s Law of Partial Pressures
- Graham’s Law of Effusion
